Global greenhouse gas emissions primarily come from carbon dioxide produced by the burning of fossil fuels (71.6%), while methane (CH4) makes up 21%.
In livestock farming, cattle have the highest carbon emissions. Due to their ruminant digestive process, cattle produce a significant amount of methane through burping and flatulence. Methane is 84 times more potent than carbon dioxide in terms of its warming effect.
Human activities inevitably generate carbon emissions, but choosing a low-carbon diet and reducing harm to the Earth by supporting low-carbon foods is one way to promote a sustainable environment.
